You may have noticed that I have not kept up with recording our weekly words on the blog.  My apologies. For an up to date list, you can now click on the Words of the Week tab to see current photos of our two word walls.  Keep practicing reading these, grades ones!

The Four Food Groups

We have been studying the four food groups as well as what we need to do to be healthy. Last week we asked the Grade ones to use the app Draw and Tell to show us the four groups.  Here are some of the finished results.

The zones of Regulation.

We had lernd about feelings of our self. All feelings are different.The blue zone is feeling not happy and feeling sick. Green zone is happy and ready to learn. The yellow zone is being silly or scared. And the last zone is the red zone the STOP sign  it means we are OUT OF CONTROL!

Treasure Map Writing Samples

Today after we put the finishing touches on our treasure maps, the grade ones had some of  their grade 7 buddies join them.  The buddies helped the grade ones write about their treasure maps using the EduCreations app on the iPads. Some of the grade 7's typed while the grade ones dictated their own sentences and some grade ones asked for help with a few words but did their own typing. Other grade ones worked on their iPads totally independently.  Ask your child about their writing and compliment their efforts. Notice how good they are getting at creating their own sentences and writing descriptions.

Treasure Maps

This week we have learned a bit about maps.  We looked at a globe and in an atlas and discussed their similarities and differences and how they represent the Earth. We saw that most maps include a legend.  Then we toured the school, looking at all of the treasure maps on display.
The grade ones have spent the last two days creating their own maps.  Look carefully and you will see some creative elements - perhaps ideas from our musical?

Working on the iPads
